Scott’s top pizza spots

By Realtor Scott Moore

Last week, Stephanie Baron came out with a great blog post with her top three choices for pizza in Winnipeg. She included three absolute legends in the Winnipeg pizza scene: Wall St Slice on Wall St (just north of Portage Ave), Parcel Pizza on Stradbrook St (near the Winter Club), and Shorty’s Pizza on Maryland at Wolseley Street. All three of these places are 10 on 10, and her post has reminded me to book a nice pizza date night downtown before summer ends.

That being said, on a random Tuesday night in the south end of Winnipeg, when I’m home late from work, the kids are all in different sports at different times, and we’re just looking for a easy dinner, I need great pizza in my area, which is the south-west end of Winnipeg. Which brings me to my top three pizza choices in the south end of Winnipeg.

First, Frankie’s Italian Kitchen on Sterling Lyon Blvd. The pizza is amazing —I love the Funghi pizza, my kids love the Pepperoni pizza which is absolutely perfect. But really, every pizza we’ve had there has been delicious. Do not miss the Caesar salad with polenta croutons and boiled eggs. And they’ll even deliver an antipasto platter! This is a very easy way to have a beautiful dinner delivered, but of course you can eat-in too.

Of course, Bellisimo Restaurant on Waverley St, a true south-end legend that will never disappoint. They do their own delivery, which is fast and efficient, so the food arrives hot and perfect. Every pizza is so good, but there’s something so great about getting delicious spaghetti and meatballs delivered, and the plates are so huge there’s plenty leftover for the lunches the next day, which is the real win. Eating in is great for a date night, but on a casual long night where you just need to feed everyone, Bellisimo does the job well.

Finally, A Little Pizza Heaven has a relatively new location at Pembina and Bison, which is right on my way home from the Fort Richmond Arena, so the perfect stop on the way home after hockey. All the pizzas are buy one & get one 50% off, so you can feed your whole family for under $50. You can’t go wrong with the Meat Lover’s Pizza (maybe you can tell but I’m a pretty traditional guy when it comes to my pizza preference!).
